Alcohol and

Drug Abuse Counseling

Home

Counseling is a process where the individual can clarify the problem, and begin to take action.  When drugs and/or alcohol become a problem, it's time to take action to solve the problem.

Intervention is a proven method of helping chemically dependant people to go into treatment.  Drugs and/or alcohol affect not only the person who is using drugs and/or alcohol, but also those around him or her.  Alcoholism and drug abuse are progressive medical conditions that need to be addressed as soon as possible.

What I Do

Alcoholism and drug abuse have become major problems.  Alcoholism and drug abuse affect individuals and families.

I am an alcoholism and drug abuse counselor with over twenty years of experience in the field.  As part of my practise I do individual counseling, assessment, referrals, and interventions.

If you are looking for someone to talk to about how drugs and/or alcohol are affecting your life or the life of a loved one, please call me on my cell phone, or send me an email, and I will contact you to set up an appointment to talk about the problems that may be impacting your life.

It does not get better -- it usually gets worse.

Interventions

Interventions done professionally have an eight in ten chance of convincing alcohol- and drug-dependant persons to go into a treatment facility for detoxification and followup treatment.

Step One:  Call me.

Step Two:  We set up an appointment to come to your home and speak to those who will be involved in the intervention.  This is done to educate all those who will be part of the intervention.

Step Three:  I ask each participant to write  a statement that will be read to the affected person at the intervention.  These statement convey to the drug-affected person concern  and love, and hope that the person seeks treatment.  Typically, participants email their statements to me, so that I can make any suggestions that I feel will be effective.

Step Four:  Arrangements are made, and insurance is checked, so that a loved one can go into a treatment facility that has a detox.

Step Five:  Hold the intervention, usually the home of one of the concerned persons.  Each person reads his/her statement, after which the person is driven directly to the treatment facility.  Should the person resist, each participant has to be ready for a bottom-line behavior change towards the person.
